Whose time is it anyways?

Have you ever taken the time to consider what really belongs to you?

Scripture tells us that everything that's ever been made was made through Jesus. Nothing is created without Him. This reminds us that everything is the Lord's. The earth is His. The solar system is His. Every cow in every pasture belongs to Him.

Let's get a little more personal. We are His. Our lives are His. Every second of every minute of every day belongs to Him.

God has been using this truth to teach me about time management. When I am tempted to use my time to focus on myself instead of the needs of those around me, I am reminded that my time is His. When I feel like I'd rather catch my favorite show than pray or read my Bible, I am reminded that my time is His. When I start feeling like "I deserve" to spend my days however I want to, I am reminded that my time is His.

Understanding this truth has the potential to shape every corner of our lives. Think about it.

• How does it impact your media choices to know that your time belongs to God?
• How does it change the activities you will choose to participate in to know that your time is His?
• Does it motivate you to pursue less "me time" and more "God time" when you realize that time is His to begin with?
• How does it change your plans for the future to know that every moment you will ever live was created by God?

Your time belongs to God. How can you use it to serve Him?

Through Jesus all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made (John 1:3).

 The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it (Psalm 24:1).
